The Art Funk podcast was born out of a need to engage with art through honest, unpretentious conversations.

Began in 2015 Rushing and her wife decided they needed an outlet through which to discuss contemporary art. The podcast became a way to explore art being made an exhibited in the DFW area, as well as special episodes in Marfa, TX, Washington D.C., and Mexico City. Rushing’s MFA in studio art provided the context for conversations while her wife’s less formally educated, but still enthusiastic perspective created an atmosphere of honesty and criticality. Together they worked to take art less seriously and encourage listeners to explore contemporary art and claim arts spaces for themselves.
